Today, stress is a much more pressing issue than it used to be a few decades ago. In an attempt to balance work, family and other responsibilities, we end up burning midnight oil until we break down and simply can’t handle it anymore. Whether it’s migraines, insomnia, a lack of appetite or downright fatigue that make us realize we’re too stressed, one thing is sure – something must be done.
But what exactly? You probably know from experience that a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and a binge of the entire first season of Friends in one night may help you feel better after getting sacked, but the feeling is only momentary. When you wake up in the morning, you’re still going to feel miserable, even if you’re good at hiding it. Depending on how you react to problems in general, your stress levels could make things worse in the long run and even lead to more serious issues like depression, for instance.
